Cherry blooms in early
April and has become one of the major attractions in
Washington DC.
Commemorating the
1912 gift of 3,000 cherry trees to President William Howard
Taft and First Lady Helen Herron Taft by Mayor Yukio Ozaki of
Tokyo, the National Cherry Blossom Festival to be held in
Washington from late-March through the early April annually.
The National Cherry
Blossom Festival offers visitors a slate of activities that
culminates with the Cherry Blossom Parade and the Sakura
Matsuri, or cherry blossom festival.
In addition to Cherry
Blossom Festival, Washington DC, the National Capitol's downtown also flanked by the densest
concentration of museums and monuments in the world. Many of
them are within walking distance and they would take you at l
east two days and well-planned in advance to go through most
of the attractions, such as: National Gallery of Art,
National Archives, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln
Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, U.S. Capitol,
don't forget to visit White House.
If
you stay more days, you can also drive a little bit further to
visit the popular Virginia's caverns and do the sightseeing
and nature walk at Shenandoah National
Park.
